This "spaghetti" effect can cause the cable to wrap around the motor's drive gear or even damage the electrical wiring harness for the door locks and speakers.

A snapped cable also means the window glass has no mechanical support. In many vehicles, this results in the glass falling down into the door frame, which can cause the glass to shatter if it hits the bottom with enough force.
